Organizing Committee
34th PBCC Annual Convention

Message from the President

On behalf of the Executive Board of the Philippine Blood Coordinating Council, I take pride and honor in inviting you to attend the 34th Annual Convention, which will be held at EDSA ShangriLa Hotel in Mandaluyong City on August 23-25, 2017.

This year’s theme, “Blood Safety: Sustaining the Advocacy, Sharing the Responsibility”, emphasizes the singular task of the PBCC in remaining faithful to the spirit of Republic Act 7719 which mandates the promotion of voluntary blood donation and the provision of adequate supply of safe blood.

Over the years, the PBCC has committed to promoting safe and available blood to the millions of Filipinos who need this lifesaving resource. It is a responsibility that we take to heart and something that we share with like-minded stakeholders all over the country, taking into account the scope of our work, the depth of the citizenry’s need and the scarcity of resources and systems by which the ideal is achieved. But Blood Safety is something that we could not compromise even in the harshest of situations and the direst of circumstances. So we have made inroads through heightened campaigns and continue to advocate for nothing less that the world-class standards pertaining to blood safety.

Over the three-day event, the Scientific Committee has prepared topics covering the three principles of learning (knowledge , attitude, skills) that range from the basics to advance technical know-hows that will empower blood bankers, managers and advocates when they return to their respective localities. Research enthusiast will be given the platform to highlight their works at the Dr. Tomas P. Maramba Research Paper Contest and eventually be a source of learning for the rest of the delegates. And the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Jorge C. Peralta Memorial Lecture Award will inspire us with how unparalleled dedication and steadfast commitment could lift a blood program to unprecedented heights.

Take a break from the rigors of the lectures and workshops by attending the Bohemian-themed Fellowship night while renewing old friendships and welcoming new acquaintances. And don’t fail to visit the state-of-the-art and informative exhibits by our partners in the diagnostic industry where they will showcase their latest innovations and services in the field of Blood Banking.

We look forward to seeing you in the convention.
